From this survey i found out the main audience that watched my video were male. I believe this to be the case as the genre of music is more geared to men however i thought maybe this would attract more women. 

From the people that answered this survey thought that the video was good and they liked the use of snow because you don't really see snow used in music videos however they liked it. There did not seem to be any bad responses towards the video.  

From this question I could gather that most had voted it 8/10 this would suggest that there is room for improvement within the video. 

 This question allowed viewers to give there suggestions to how i can improve my video the was that they would like to see the girl in the video so that they could share the want for her with the artist, the reason i chose not to show her as it keeps her mysterious and only he knows how amazing she is. The second point was to include less ghosting which would mean quicker edits and fancier transitions like the ones towards the end of the video i chose the slow ghosting transitions as i feel that it went with the tempo of the song however i may be wrong.

How effective is the the combination of your main media product and ancillary texts?




I think this the combination of my ancillary  task and my main media product is effective.

my main media product is not up beat its more depressing  so when I was making my digipak and magazine advert I kept this in mind and not making it colourful and vibrant images this was why i decided to use the the images I did.

i chose this image as this would is reflective of how the artist is feeling it shows him showing himself trying to find purity and to find this women this was almost angelic and the way annie is portrayed as almost angelic and the glare in this pic almost shows that. the idents from HMV and Itunes shows it to be like a real media product. this is an effective magazine advert i because it shows the artist it gives his name and the name of the song it also includes of the main settings in the video and the artist is shown in black and white because he is lost without annie. This can allow the audience to associate with him as they may have been through the same thing and this would be my biggest selling point.   

 for this digipak i chose to use images from the video this was effective because this shows them lost of pictures of the artist and the pictures taken from the video would encorage them to watch it as they want to see the rest and the journey he is going through as he greeves about losing his love. This would give them a sneak peak however these images are edited and would not show the artist in a true light this might not entice the audience into wanting to see more.

Conventions of the music video

C a m e r a   S h o t s :  Music videos tend to include many long shots, close ups and mid shots. This is to create emphasis on the artist, location and emotions. Also, close ups are used not only to show emotions but to reflect the words of the song with the movement of the lips of the artist.

E d i t i n g :Jump cuts is the predominant editing technique used in music videos. This is because this allows a sudden change from one scene to another. Similarly, transitions such as fade and dissolve are very common in music videos as they create a different effect to cuts.

Some music videos are black and white which help emphasise a particular mood and some videos have artificial lighting which put the artist/s in an enhanced look.

 S o u n d :Sound is mainly the vocals or the song but in some cases such as Michael Jackson – Thriller, the producers can make the music video into a short film

.P r o p s :These are a vital in aiding to add to the scene and create significance on particular objects or people.

C o s t u m e :  This goes with the scenes in the song and reflects the genre. Costume is an important factor because it has a slight influence on how the viewers will dress because they use some of the celebrities as role models

C o l o u r :Colours tend to set the mood of the song through creating an atmosphere. For example, dark colours are used more in rock songs such as Kings of Leon and bright colours are seen to be used more in hip hop and pop videos.

from this I can see that the majority of the people that answered my survey where male this is because this is the age of my target audience is because i asked mainly males to fill it out my servey 

from this question the answers are very different and varied from styles to video types

the majority of my participants wher 16-20 year olds this is because this would perdomantly be my target audience

according to this question people have said that good continuety and good lip sinking combined good edits and transitions would make a good music video this is something that i can keep in mind when making my music video.

all of the people that answered my survey like R&B music this would not be the correct target audience for my music video as i would say my music is alternative rock

my participants all said they watch their music videos on music channels and youtube this seems to be popular within the general public as well this is because these are the biggest distributers in the industry for muic videos and maybe where mine could be shown.

The second place that I chose to film in is a drama studio this is because it gave the stage feel because

it has lights that can be used to give a concert feel. 

I chose to have him walking around the streets of Dagenham looking depressed about losing

his love and is trying to find her. 

I chose to use this person in my music video because he looks like the original artist and like artists and would be a good idea to keep them simular in looks.

Props and Costume

For props I want to use a guitar and microphone and stand

Because this is an acoustic song and the microphone stand gives the allusion that he is on stage.

This is the sort of guitar that he would use for the deep and meaningful scene as its slower and is when he speaks about his love. 

This would be the sort of guitar that the actor would use for the guitar solo in the song this would be a scene when he is performing on stage.

The costume 

here i had chosen these two costumes because one he is in a casual location so he's in casual clothes and when he is on stage he is wearing clothes that you would associate with some one performing. 

again casual clothing for a location that you would wear these clothes for. 

this is when he is sitting outside his house after being in the other location feeling sorry for himself

this clothing is something you would associate with a performer in a video with this music.
